This summer our trail construction program is focused on completing the Trans-Canada Trail through West Bragg Creek. The Iron Creek segment has been completed and is ready to use. The trail continues west from the end of the Bragg Creek-Rocky View portion of the Trans-Canada Trail. It begins with by winding through a mature spruce forest and over three new bridges. Hello West Bragg Creek trail users and volunteers, I just wanted to update everyone on the barbed wire scenario that was circulating a while back. The RCMP have determined via an eyewitness and physical evidence that the person who claimed to have been clotheslined by barbed wire on Merlin View trail had actually been riding a motorized vehicle on private property when he ran into a barbed wire fence. GBCTA has been busy this summer rerouting trails from the new parking lot and lots more. Volunteers have been working on getting Braggin Rights and Whitetail re-aligned to meet up with the new trailhead location. Both trails will share a common start, then split off at a "Y" intersection. The grades of both trails have been reduced to make climbing easier and to reduce bike speeds coming into the parking lot.
