Trail Building 101

 The culture of trail stewardship starts within our community. If you like recreating on trails, chances are you’ll really enjoy building and maintaining them too. Trail work is a little bit engineering; a little bit craft, ecology, user psychology, and a whole lot of labor, hopefully, labor of love. When in doubt, cut it out. Think Like Water!

Tribute to Fellow Trail Enthusiast and Volunteer

Family and friends of Jim Davis felt that a fitting tribute to his memory was to build some trail in his honour. That’s exactly what happened on Sunday, July 14 when 3 generations of Jim’s family joined GBCTA crew leaders and and a regular volunteer crew to work on a new All Seasons Trail trail paralleling Moose Loop Ski Trail.

July Volunteer Trail Days

We are having a super season out here on the trails with a record amount of early season maintenance being done. Thank you to everybody who has volunteered individually and to Steve at Birchcliff Energy and Fanny at Suncor Energy for organizing Group Trail Days. WBC Trails 2018 Summary

The 2018 summer trail work focused on maintenance, repairs and upgrades to the existing trail network. Work was done on 22.3 km of trails or 22.7% of the single-track network.

$ 20,000 Grant from RVC for GBCTA Community Trails

The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association (GBCTA) is pleased to announce that Rocky View County (RVC) has approved grant funding of $ 20,000 for GBCTA Community Trails in RVC.

A $ 10,000 RVC capital grant will go towards placement and compacting of GreenDrop Trail Gravel on the Banded Peak Trail from the Bragg Creek Community Centre to the Banded Peak School. This will provide a smoother […]

Crew Leader Training Sets a New Standard

The GBCTA has kicked off the 2019 trail season by hosting 2 crew leader training sessions out in West Bragg Creek. This is the first year that a coalition of 6 trails groups have come together for training in an attempt to standardize trail building and manage crew dynamics.
